Alberta Woman Planks Her Way to World Record

Canadian Determination: A remarkable woman from Alberta, Canada, has shattered the world record for the longest time spent in an abdominal plank position. DonnaJean Wilde held the pose for an astonishing 4 hours, 30 minutes, and 11 seconds, surpassing the previous record by over 10 minutes.

Planking with a Purpose: Wilde's journey with planking began unexpectedly. Ten years ago, a broken wrist left her searching for exercises she could do while in a cast. Planking proved to be the perfect solution, keeping her heart rate up while accommodating her injury.

A Family of Champions: Interestingly, this record-breaking feat runs in the family. The previous record was held by another Canadian named Dana, also from Alberta. But DonnaJean's dedication to fitness goes beyond this achievement. Her son, Ray, describes her as a lifelong athlete who consistently prioritizes exercise. Even everyday activities become opportunities for movement – her husband, Randy, recounts how she might even plank while watching movies!

Strength Through Challenge: While pursuing her master's degree 20 years ago, DonnaJean was diagnosed with transverse myelitis, causing chronic pain and numbness, particularly in her arms, hands, and shoulders. However, her husband believes this condition may have even aided her record attempt. He suggests that dealing with daily pain prepared her to endure the discomfort of a prolonged plank.

A Dream Achieved: Wilde expressed pure joy after her successful attempt, stating it felt like a dream come true. Her story is an inspiring testament to perseverance, dedication, and the power of finding fitness solutions that work for you, even under challenging circumstances.
